What is a multi-point locking system? Multi-point locks secure your door at several points along the frame — typically the top, middle, and bottom — using one handle and locking mechanism. While these systems offer superior security and weather sealing, they are more complex than standard locks and prone to wear over time. Common across the East End on Andersen, Marvin, Hoppe and Pella doors, they require specialty hardware most locksmiths don’t carry. We do.

What are the most common Andersen multi-point door problems?
The most common door problem with these doors is difficulty lifting up the handle. These doors are often mis-used and forced to lock, which can break internal parts. When a lock mechanism gives, you may not be able to open or operate the door.
What is the cost to fix?
The cost to fix does vary depending on the type of repair. For door adjustments and re-alignments, cost including our service call starts at $275. For more complicated repairs, including full lock mechanism replacements, the price can range from $400 – $950+. We try to be as transparent as possible with pricing — often able to provide a free quote if you can send a photo of the door by email or text.
Can I just put a regular lock on the door?
This is a question we get often. Unfortunately, no — these doors are manufactured to operate with the lock mechanisms that come from the factory. Different trim or styled hardware can be changed out if a new look is the desired outcome.
Can I put a keyless entry on the door?
Some Andersen doors are compatible with a Yale keyless entry. Other multi-point locking doors can sometimes be modified to fit a keyless entry; however, this is usually not preferred and may violate any manufacturer warranty.
