A new mortise lock in a blank, 2-inch-thick door.
This Birdseye Road project in Orient started with a new, unprepared door measuring 2 inches thick. We completed a fresh mortise-lock installation. Unlike changing a cylinder in an existing lock, this work begins with a door that does not already have the lock’s required preparation.
A mortise lock sits in a pocket within the door edge. The lock body, trim and frame strike need to be planned together using the selected hardware’s specifications. Door thickness matters when choosing compatible components; appearance alone does not establish fit.
